1; Mun is of age so NSFW themes are not an issue and are likely to happen. This includes gore, darker themes, and smut. However they will always be tagged as such and placed under read more wherever necesary.

2; Smut will take place only in verses where my muse is age 18 or older. There will be no exceptions to this.

3; I'm willing to RP just about any genre, from fluff and smut to angst and gore. I wll do my best to tag all triggers accordingly. 1; This blog is selective and private. This means that, for the sake of keeping myself from getting too overwhelmed, I will only interact with mutuals. I appologize, but any starters done by non-mutuals or asks sent that would typically prompt IC interactions will be ignored. .

However if I'm not following you, you are still more than welcome to send asks for any non-interaction meme if you like, or questions for myself or my muse and I'll be more than happy to answer.

1; I ship chemistry first and foremost. Just because you RP a character I ship mine with please do not assume that means I'll ship with you.

2; Please do not try to force a ship on me. I'm more than okay with your muse developing feelings for mine, however there's a chance they may remain unrequited if my muse or myself don't feel any inclination towards a ship. That said, you are always welcome to ask if I would like to ship if you feel our muses have chemistry, just please respect this and do not push if you ask and I say no.

3; On that note, while this blog is multiship with each ship automatically taking place in a different verse unless previously discussed with my partner(s), I will rarely ship with multiples of a character and I will never ship with more than two.

Appearance

Standing at 5′2″ (161cm) by most standards, Jaden is a relatively short individual, though this is something he’s never found particularly bothersome. Naturally, his skin tends to be on the paler side, however,  due to the amount of time he often spends in the sun, he’s gained a light tan, making his skin appear more of a golden beige. Also courtesy of time spent in the sun, his skin has developed a light spattering of freckles. 

He has a slender build, with a very light layering of muscle, the product more of constant activity and running around than any real attempts at building it

His hair is dual-toned, the tresses on top appearing a light shade of Auburn, while the rest is a medium shade of brown. Depending on the point in time line, it will either be relatively short, stopping at about the middle of his neck with bangs that stop just above his eyes or longer, hanging to near his shoulders with bangs that hang in his eyes just slightly. The exception to this are a few strands that frame his face and remain longer than the rest of his hair regardless of timeline. His hair is also typically quite messy, Jaden rarely caring enough to do much of anything with it.

His eyes are typically a warm honey brown, however in certain instances when Yubel’s power becomes more prominent, his eyes will change becoming heterochromatic. The left will take on a vivid shade of amber, while the right turns a blueish-green.

More often than not he can be found wearing his Slifer red jacket open over a black shirt, and either white pants or a pair of dark blue jeans. A deck box is almost always present at his waistline, though more often than not it’s easily hidden beneath his jacket. A pair of red and black boots and a duel disk almost always present on his left arm complete his usual look.

Interests

Ever since he was a child, Jaden has harbored and inexplicably strong love for Duel Monsters. Originally the hobby started as simply collecting the cards, the monster designs easily catching his interest from a fairly young age. However, that love easily grew when he began dueling, either with friends from school, or the various neighbors who would come to keep him company all day while his parents were away at work.

This love is one that has continued to grow over the years, dueling becoming a genuine passion for the young man, and giving rise to his dream to become the next king of games.

Another thing Jaden took an interest in after graduating from Duel Academy was traveling, thanks in large part to the mission he embarked on to find his way and discover some answers to certain questions he’d harbored since his soul’s union with Yubel.’s

Personality

Jaden more often than not tends to be a very cheerful and carefree individual. A majority of the time he can be found with a smile on his face, his seemingly boundless enthusiasm and energy not something that can be easily tamed, especially when something he enjoys is involved-often regardless of what may be at stake. Dueling especially is one thing Jaden usually loves above most anything else.

On the opposite side of the coin, if Jaden doesn’t take an interest in something, it can be extremely difficult for Jaden to remain focused on that particular subject. Thus the reason he can more often than not be found sleeping in class rather than listening.

Harboring a very friendly and forgiving nature he, for the most part, has little difficulty when it comes to befriending others. He cares very deeply when it comes to others, both people and duel spirits alike, and will often be among the first to welcome a new face to the school’s ranks. He’s also seemingly incapable of holding a grudge, more than once having forgiven someone even after they’d challenged him to a shadow game and attempted to steal his soul.

However, he isn’t always the best at picking up on even basic social cues. This can often lead to Jaden not quite realizing when he may be pushing something a touch too far or unwittingly disregarding the fears and concerns of others. This can easily lead to others growing frustrated with him, though Jaden rarely realizes the reason for that.

Towards his friends, he’s very protective and loyal, willing to do anything he can in order to defend them to the best of his ability. This can easily lead to him making brash and impulsive decisions when they’re threatened. 

After the events that took place in the other dimension with Yubel and the Supreme King, he changed a great deal.

Following that, though the cheerfulness he once harbored hadn’t faded completely, he became a much more serious individual and took to more or less isolating himself from the friends he held so dear. He became a fair deal more self-critical, still not quite past blaming himself for the effect his actions had and the people he hurt, and came to believe that others would be better off-safer-if he simply stayed away.

Even his love for dueling took a grave hit. 

However, as time passed he began to open up again and eventually managed to regain his love for dueling, though he couldn’t quite go back to the way he once was.

Abilities

Jaden is a very skilled duelist with an uncanny ability where drawing is concerned. Whether it be the eggwich on sandwich day or the exact card he needs at the exact moment he needs it, the luck of the draw almost always seems to be on his side when he needs it. 

Jaden has also demonstrated a fair amount of athletic ability, his seemingly boundless energy no doubt contributing to this a fair deal.

He is the bearer of a power known as ‘the gentle darkness’ which grants him the ability to see, communicate, and even control the duel spirits that often dwell within the cards of duelists like himself. At its strongest, this power also grants him the ability to manifest the monsters from their cards, granting them physical form even in the the world where they should be little more than holograms. 

Many of these aspects of ‘The Gentle Darkness'’ power are things Jaden tends to avoid using where he can seeing as he still bears a somewhat negative association with some of them thanks to his time as The Supreme King

Biography

Early Life

It was when he was still very young that he discovered a passion for Duel Monsters. The hours spent Dueling, watching tournaments on TV, and even just looking at his cards and rearranging his deck, easily became some of Jaden’s past-times as well as his reprieve from the loneliness he often found in his often empty home.

It was this passion that prompted his father to purchase a rare card for Jaden as a gift when the opportunity arose. This card, Yubel, quickly became one of Jaden’s favorites, and he would often spend copious amounts of time in each duel trying to summon that particular card. However, it wasn’t long after Yubel was put into his deck that strange things began to happen.

It seemed whenever he would duel someone, something would happen to leave them feeling ill, hurt, or even black out. One friend even slipped into a coma after a duel with Jaden. Around the same time these events began to take place, Jaden began to hear a voice and feel a presence emanating from Yubel’s card. The stronger the voice and presence grew, the worse things got until eventually people stopped coming around and dueling with him, rumors quickly spreading that he was cursed.

When he heard of a contest KaibaCorp was holding he didn’t even hesitate before deciding to enter. The contest was one for card designs and the winner would have the cards they designed sent up into space. The theory was that the cards could absorb a special energy through this. Jaden won with his creations Dandylion and the Neospacians. When they cards bearing his designs were set to go up, Jaden requested that Yubel’s card be sent up as well.

He hoped that the energy waves the other cards were meant to absorb might make Yubel safe to play. Thus the card was sent up in a separate capsule.

It was shortly after this that Jaden began to suffer horrific night terrors involving the card. It was thought that they would stop, over time, but instead, they only grew worse until they were forced to do a procedure to block Jaden’s memories of Yubel.

Yubel and the trouble the card caused forgotten, Jaden went on with his life, though many who did remember still opted to avoid him, as did most who heard the rumors. 

Despite this though, Jaden continued to duel any who would be willing to take him on, dueling easily becoming the most prominent thing in his life. Thanks to this he became an incredibly skilled Duelist and eventually, when the opportunity arose for him to apply to Duel Academy, he took it without a second thought. 

Duel Academy Days

Once he was accepted to Duel Academy, he was assigned to the Slifer Red dorm. For the most part, he was a poor student, often falling asleep in classes and only barely passing a large majority of his tests. However, where dueling was concerned it wasn’t long before he was seen as one of the school’s brightest stars.

Soon he was the first choice when a strong duelist was desired, whether it was the top student’s farewell duel or a competition against a rival school, and he was rarely one to disappoint. 

However, his school days didn’t remain normal for long.

Eventually, it seemed he was thrown into a constant stream of challenges from sources other than the written tests and oral exams he so despised. Between a group hell-bent on obtaining the power of the sacred beast cards and a brainwashing society that wanted to take over the world, Jaden’s first two years at the academy were far from what he expected.

Even those two years were next to nothing when compared to his third. That year found the Academy transported to an entirely new dimension; one here Duel monsters lived as more than just pictures on cards. Things seemed bleak, food limited, danger waiting just beyond the Academy’s walls, and, as they eventually learned, even within.

Eventually Jaden learned that the mastermind behind Duel Academy’s transportation to the strange dimension was none other than the duel spirit of his childhood card; Yubel.

Angry and hurt, Yubel challenged Jaden to a duel. He accepted, and not long after the duel began he was joined by his friend Jesse. When a portal opened that would take them home, Jaden had to run, leaving Jesse to Duel Yubel himself.

The Academy returned safely, however, as they quickly learned, Jesse did not.

Overrun with guilt after learning the whole thing was caused by his actions as a child and a desire to save his friend, Jaden sought out another portal when it formed. He was followed b several of his friends, and together they returned to the other dimension, despite having only just returned home.

While there the second time, Jaden became overcome by his desire to save Jesse and bring him home-an obsession that lead to his recklessness growing to new heights. His friends ultimately were the ones to pay the price for his recklessness, being ‘sent to the stars’ when they got caught up in what he was doing.

After, Jaden closed himself off, ultimately retreating into the confines of his own heart when the guilt became too much for him to handle. This made room for the Supreme King, a personality born from ‘The Gentle Darkness’ that resides within him, to take over.

Once the Supreme King took over, he became a conqueror who fought to take over and rule the dimensions and cared not who got hurt in the process. He destroyed countless villages in his conquest and sent countless people ‘to the stars while under the influence of this darker nature before he was finally pulled back to the surface after a duel with Axel ended in a draw.

Back to himself, Jaden was once again plagued by guilt, this time not just for the effect sending Yubel away had had, but also guilt over the things he had done as the Supreme King. He began to fear dueling; the very thing he had once loved so being the very thing that he had used as the supreme king to hurt so many people and ruin so many lives.

Eventually, he managed to regain some of his confidence and was able to once again challenge Yubel, who had taken over Jesse at the time, to a duel. After helping Jesse to regain control of his body, Jaden and Yubel began their duel once again.

It was a challenging duel, and it was during that duel that Jaden came to grips with the fact that the Supreme King was a part of him and learned the truth of who and what Yubel truly was; a guardian. A former human given a monster's form for the sake of protecting the wielder of ‘The Gentle Darkness’ back when it had belonged to one of Jaden’s distant ancestors. 

Realizing the truth, Jaden used the Super Polymerization card that had once been the Supreme King’s Weapon of choice to fuse Yubel’s soul with his own, heedless of what it may mean for him so long as it made things right.

Final Year

During his final year at the Academy, Jaden changed drastically thanks to the event that had taken place within that other dimension. His love for dueling faded, becoming little more than embers where it had once been a roaring pyre. No longer did he find any enjoyment in it, or look forward to any challenges. Rather, he took to ending duels as quickly as possible.

He grew distant from his friends, more often than not avoiding them to the best of his ability, and, for the most part even stopped going to class.

Still plagued by what his actions had caused and what he had done as the Supreme King, Jaden thought it best for everyone that he stayed away, coming to believe that all the dangers they had fallen into were largely due to him being around.

Eventually, a tag duel with Alexis managed to bring him back. Though the time he spent around his friends remained more limited than before, he became more open with them once again, though his reservations with getting them involved with anything still remained.

Already a new enemy had appeared, and Jaden was met with a target on his back practically from the moment this new danger presented itself. This time he was determined to keep his friends out of it, even going so far as to leave the island and go to Domino City, alone, in hopes of ending things there before anyone else could get involved.

-Jaden has ADHD

-Growing up, even after the separation from Yubel and the memories being suppressed, Jaden was largely avoided by those who lived in the neighborhood, many still fearing the ‘curse’ they believed surrounded him.

-Due to this, Jaden was rarely able to really socialize with others in day to day situations, much of the socialization he managed to get coming from events involving dueling.

-This is largely why Jaden often has difficulty picking up on social cues and why it’s easier for him to read and pick up on things from people when dueling is involved.
